Podcast #3 and Photos with the Ability to Leave Me Completely Dumfounded...

Strange things afoot today. First off, what seems to be some sort of
guerilla stickering campaign leads me to existential questions I'm
not ready to answer...
(photo taken in the Woodbridge neighborhood of Detroit. Stickers also spotted in the Cass Corridor)
Next, a Detroit gas station puts a little too much faith in hope...
(actual un-retouched photo from a gas station on Wyoming in Detroit)

Let's pull it all together with some tunes from the town I love. If
anyone has any insight into any of these shenanigans (sticker, gas,
jams) please let me know.

I'm waiting for someone to blame me for those stickers. There's one in the bathroom at the Chill and Mingle too ... saw it last night.

I have been seeing these stickers all over Midtown and in Hamtramck

The Mitch Rider thing? I think its kinda like waht happened with the early-Beatles or the Yardbirds (yeah I said it). All kinds of crazy psych bands loved em and were inspired to form because of them, but...methinks they're kinda lame. Its weird to think about Dickie Peterson and Joe from the Flower Travellin Band sitting in their respective bedrooms getting their faces melted by this boring pop music. But the music had NEW!! elements/feelings/etc attached and so, yeah, it makes sense that the kids loved it and made it better.

Maybe someone wants you to come back to Detroit. I don't understand why you don't go back because you're always whining about how much you miss it.

Very strange indeed. But the fact that the stickers appeared just after you were in town puts you pretty high on the list of suspects, Ben!

It seems like people want you back in Detroit!

Where is Ben Blackwell?

Bigger Question. Where is Mick Collins?

do you know the mitch ryder song "rather go to jail"? thats one of my favorites. real high energy and fun. the first detroit wheels albums isnt TOO different from the sonics or "back in the usa" or whatever. just rough, fast covers of rnb songs. I like them.

Ben you should check your wiki page someone put the stickers up on it.

It's like the guy/girl(usually) at work no one likes, then she leaves and everyone is happy and glad to see her go, because they ragged on her constantly, but three years later they still find a way to bring her back up and talk about her. You're that girl Ben.

Stickers should say: "No matter where he is, Ben Blackwell is still a dickwad."

Thanks for the 'casst! Every time I hear that DJ Assault song I think of the Chappelle Show episode with the black gay dude mowing his lawn in a black leather vest and short shorts.
